Candle Care and Safety Guidelines

Before lighting your candle, there are a few important considerations to take to ensure you obtain the optimal burn and best scent throw.

___

1. Make sure to trim the wick to 1/4" before lighting.

2. When doing your first burn, ensure the wax on the top layer is completely melted before extinguishing the flame. This is called a "full melt pool". Having a full melt pool ensures you'll use every bit of your candle, letting none of it go to waste. It normally will take at least an hour or a little more to obtain a full melt pool.

3. When burning your candle in the desired space, close the door and windows so your scent can fully develop. Larger spaces might possibly need two candles in opposite areas to maximize the scent.

4. Always place your candle on a fireproof surface and keep it away from flammable objects. Keep your candle away from drafty areas as well.

5. Only burn your candle for no longer than 3-4 hours. If you wish to burn it longer, extinguish the flame, wait for the wax to harden and then relight.

6. Use a wick snuffer when extinguishing the flame. This will minimize soot forming on the sides and black smoke from occurring. Wait until the vessel has cooled completely before transporting it to a different location.

7. Keep the lid on the candle when not in use. This will keep debris from settling on top as well as preserve the fragrance of the candle.

8. Keep the wax pool free of debris such as wick trimmings.

9. Always store your candle in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and harsh indoor lighting when not in use.

10. Keep your candle away from children or pets. Always burn your candle within sight.

11. When re-lighting your candle, always trim the wick 1/4" before lighting. This will minimize soot from forming on the vessel and black smoke from the wick.

12. Never burn a candle to the very bottom of the vessel. Leave at least 1/2", no less than 1/4" of wax left before discarding the candle.

13. Our vessels are meant to be recycled! Once the wax reaches it limit of 1/2" to 1/4" remaining, wait until it hardens and pour boiling water into the vessel. The wax will separate and you can easily remove the wax. Peel the wick base off as well and wash the vessel out thoroughly with soap and water. Now you have a perfectly good vessel you can use as a small succulent container, coin jar, pen holder - whatever you can imagine! If you wish to remove the label and it doesn't peel off easily, heat it with a heat gun or pop it in the microwave for a few seconds at a time and it should come right off!
